This is a challenging, beautiful route, showcasing north-eastern San Diego countryside!  Both routes have a lot of elevation gain, but If you've never ridden De Luz Road, it's worth it!  Starting in Oceanside, we'll ride up the San Luis Rey bike trail while we warm up.  The route then climbs north to Fallbrook and to the highlight, De Luz Rd., with it's hills, valleys, farms, wineries and ranches.  After our highest climb on De Luz, we'll veer off onto Carancho and Sandia Creek Rds, enjoying the long descent (one climb!).  Heading back up toward Fallbrook, the Short Route folks will continue to Oceanside.  The Long Route instead heads southeast to make another climb before a lovely descent through Pala Mesa and Bonsall.  The route then meets up with the outbound route and we head back  toward Oceanside.
